Short Term Missions

We want the people of Good Shepherd to have life-changing impacts while serving others...and this includes serving in a short-term missions capacity. We have many opportunities each year, both domestically and internationally, to spread the love of Jesus Christ and the good news of the Gospel message while helping meet people's needs. 

Opportunities

  • Guatemala (men only)

    Date: 3/5/26 - 3/9/26

    What: Travel to Guatemala to serve with Give & Teach with other men to build a house and stoves. We will accept teams of 7 men at a time. This is a shortened mission - leaving on Thursday morning and returning on Monday evening.  

    Cost: $850 per person which includes airfare, trip insurance, room & board and supplies.

  • Guatemala (adults)

    Date: 6/13/26 - 6/19/26

    What: Adults will travel to Guatemala City, Guatemala to serve with Give & Teach Ministries. We will assist with building houses, stoves and facilitate a local Vacation Bible experience. Housing will be in the modern Mission home with the team.

    Cost: $1,100 per person

  • Guatemala (students)

    Date: 6/20/26 - 6/26/26

    What: Current high school juniors and seniors will travel to Guatemala City, Guatemala to serve with Give & Teach Ministries. We will assist with building houses, stoves and facilitate a local Vacation Bible experience. Housing will be in the modern Mission home with the team.

  • Guatemala (families)

    Date: 7/18/26 - 7/24/26

    What: Families with children aged 12 and older will travel to Guatemala City, Guatemala to serve with Give & Teach Ministries. We will assist with building houses, stoves and facilitate a local Vacation Bible experience. Housing will be in the modern Mission home with the team.

  • Guatemala (married)

    Date: October 2026

    What: Couples will travel to Guatemala City, Guatemala with 5 other couples to build a house, stoves and review Re|engage curriculum.  This is a shortened mission – leaving on a Wednesday morning and returning on a Sunday evening.

    Re|engage participation is strongly encouraged.

    Cost: $900 per person

  • Kenya (House of Hope)

    Date: May 2027

    What: Travel to Nairobi, Kenya to meet our partner organization House of Hope. We will be ministering to the staff and 350 children that live, play and learn at House of Hope.  We will help in the classrooms, farm and other community projects and events.  Room and Board is provided on site at the House of Hope location. We will be adding a two-day safari at the end of the trip as a unique experience.

    Cost: TBD. The cost of this mission will include airfare, room and board, supplies, safari trip, trip insurance and transportation.

  • Joni & Friends Family Retreat

    Date: August 2026

    What: Joni & Friends retreats provide inclusive worship, biblical teaching, fun, age-appropriate activities, and meaningful connections with families with disabilities. Join Joni and Friends and Good Shepherd volunteers at a five-day retreat. Families will be cared for, encouraged, and rejuvenated in this Christ-centered, accessible camp environment. There are several roles to fill and you will be coached and mentored prior to the event.

    Cost: $300

  • MFuge

    Date: 7/13/26 - 7/17/26

    What: MFuge is designed to give students a mission experience that opens their eyes to similar opportunities they may have to serve in their own communities, learning to live life each day on mission! They will choose tracks to serve in from: children’s ministry, evangelism, games and Rec, PCY (Painting, Construction, and Yardwork) along with social work. MFuge is located at Milligan University in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

    Cost: $300 per student

  • Red Bird Mission Camp

    Date: 9/13/26 - 9/18/26

    What: Adults and children 14 and older serve the local community in the coal mining country near Beverly, Kentucky.  We will be helping the locals with housing projects such as; roofing, building ramps, porches, painting, landscaping, etc.

    Cost: $350 per person

  • City of Hope Disaster Relief

    Date: 9/10/25 - 9/13/25

    What: Adults and children 14 and older travel with the Good Shepherd team to help with clean up and landscaping/yard work in a small town in Western, NC.

    Cost: Only meals during travel
